Scientific and Medical Committee

LNE/G-MED is supported by a Scientific and Medical Committee set up when G-MED was launched in the mid-1990s. It is consulted on:

  • the general principles on which medico-technical assessment standards are based
  • the methods for assessment of specific categories of medical devices according to French regulations and European Directives.

The Committee meets two or three times a year. It is responsible for approving the appointment of LNE/G-MED experts who are consulted during assessment of:

  • clinical data on medical devices
  • the performance of in vitro diagnostic medical devices.

The Scientific and Medical Committee is made up of independent representatives of all parties concerned, in particular:

  • doctors, surgeons, pharmacists and biologists:

  • representatives of France's trade organizations in the medical device sector SNITEM, APPAMED, SFRL.
